Authored by Jessie Quinn

Influencers know a thing or two about travel. Whether they are jet-setting on a press trip or headed to fashion week, many of them spend a lot of time in the air and in different cities across the globe. But even with the jet-lag, dry cabin pressure, new climates and busy schedules, they somehow manage to keep their skin glowing and healthy.

We tapped three travel-savvy influencers to find out how they care for their skin on-the-go.

Touched down at LAX and I’ve been told 5 times already how this outfit is the best thing ever. I think I’ll have to agree. 🌈🌈🌈Rainbow side stripe full look : @525america • • • • •#525america #itsallaboutthesweater #fulllook #whitesweater #trackpants #trackpant #sportylook

Q: How do you care for your skin while traveling?
I experience oiliness on airplanes. For longer plane travel, I carry a little kit in my carry-on with cleansing oil, wipes [and] moisturizer.

Q: How do you take care of your hair while traveling?
I have thick, curly hair that I wash and style one to two times a week. So, I usually like to style it right before I jump on the plane with my own heat tools — that way I get a nice two to four days wear out of it (plus plugs abroad aren’t always friendly to my heat tools). From there, washing and styling a curly, beachy look with waves is always my go-to. I use a sea salt spray or curl defining cream on my curls.

Q: What is your top priority when packing beauty for a trip?
[It] has definitely been on protecting my skin from the sun. Using a lightweight sunscreen on your face still allows for makeup to go right over.

Q: What is the craziest beauty tool you have traveled with?
I went to a weekend wedding in Spain last summer and had a lot of hair and makeup looks to pull off for the various scenarios I would encounter in this one three-day weekend. It wasn’t a crazy beauty tool specifically, but a serious hairstyling arsenal. The sheer amount of mini hair sprays, texture sprays, bobby pins, hair ties, straighteners, mini blow dryer, smoothing serums, and oils that it took to make my short bob look flawless in the Spanish humidity.

Q: How do you care for your skin and hair from the inside out while traveling?
WATER, WATER, WATER!

Last week i had such a beautiful transformational experience. 〰️ For the first time since becoming a mama, I truly figured out what it feels like to be ✖️FULLY PRESENT✖️ When away from my children. My 3.5 days in Mexico FELT LIKE A MONTH, y’all! What have I been doing the past 8 years?!?! The amount of mom guilt I experienced for simply FILLING up my own cup is absurd. For the first time, I was just there with one purpose, to be present to myself. This definitely took creating a support system at home + TRUST, but the minute I surrendered control, I was able to have one of the best experiences of my life. Just like anything, letting go, surrendering and motherhood is a process of learning, releasing, expanding + contracting. I feel so beyond grateful for this experience + showing up DIFFERENTLY. Just had to share. Mamas, thoughts? 💭 #philosophiemama #mamapreneur #selflove

Q: How do you care for your skin while traveling?
Keep your skincare regimen simple, especially while traveling! You’ll have to adapt to the weather of the city you’ll be [in], which may be snow, winds, rain, humidity or sunshine. It’s so easy to get in a routine and stick to it, but it’s actually beneficial to switch up your skincare seasonally because your skin needs different things at different times of the year. During the winter, and if I am traveling somewhere particularly chilly, I’ll bring natural creams and face oils. I am a big fan of coconut oil, which I use for everything. I love focusing on hydration, which is a major player in keeping your skin glowing and fresh.

Q: How do you take care of your hair while traveling?
Treat your hair gently while traveling and try not to overdo it. If I’m leaving for a short weekend getaway, I’ll get a blowout before and have it last through my whole trip. I usually end up tying up my hair — my go-to style is a half top knot. It’s so easy and still looks cute, playful and fun.

Q: What is your top priority when packing beauty for a trip?
I make sure I have my essentials for my morning and evening routine. I make sure to pack for the climate I’m heading to, whether that’s more sun creams for visits to the beaches of Tel Aviv or hydrating creams when I’m braving windy cities on business.

Q: What is the craziest beauty tool you have traveled with?
I love my NuFACE Microcurrent Mini Facial Toning device. It’s so easy to travel with and helps keep my face clean and vibrant.

Q: How do you care for your skin and hair from the inside out while traveling?
Superfoods are amazing for your skin [and] hair and are so easy to add to your meals at the hotel or a cafe. I love keeping teas with me but especially traveling with ginger, peppermint and green tea for digestion. I also try to eat fresh and organic fruits and veggies wherever I travel — I may even try to hit up a local farmer’s market. By eating clean and organic, you’re helping your body maintain the highest level of function and keep your energy up, keeping your skin [and] hair feeling radiant and vibrant.

Looked at myself in the mirror today and the negative thoughts flooded in. I haven’t been working out as much because of my back + shoulder injury. I’ve been eating without much thought. I’ve been much less focused on my health (mostly bc there’s a lot of other really good stuff going on). – This all shows in my body so quickly and yes, today I didn’t like what I saw. – But instead of spiraling into a downward thought progression…instead of assuming the worst things about myself…I decided to make some choices, small ones. Tiny. Miniature. – I went to yoga. I’m going to self-tan tonight. I drank some water. Set out the ingredients for a healthy dinner for Craig and I. I’ll wear sexy lingerie tonight. I’ll accomplish one thing that makes me feel more set up for a good day tomorrow. – It isn’t about changing your body image in a moments notice. It’s about creating an honest relationship with yourself about how you feel, and having tools to elevate you when you have moments of self doubt. – You will never be positive about your body all the time. That’s a fact. So stop making that your fucking goal. – Focus on being true to who you are, setting up tools to be able to empower yourself when you falter, and own the fact that your feelings are true but they aren’t forever. – Love doesn’t lessen on bad days, in fact that’s when you need it the most. #selflove #bodyconfindence

Q: How do you care for your skin while traveling?
Understand that your skin is going to be going through change (dry in-flight air, maybe extra sweat and different foods), so bringing a couple [of] products that help with breakouts and hydration are going to be key so you’re not stuck with a huge zit with no recourse — unless you’re going to Asia or France, then it’s an excuse to raid the local beauty store or pharmacy! I also never pack just a carry-on. Full-sized luggage lets me bring my favorite products and that makes the fifteen extra minutes at the airport well worth it. Lastly, there’s no shame in a full-face mask on the plane. I once did a full clay mask mid-flight!

Q: How do you take care of your hair while traveling?
Remember that your hair is going to be extra dry from travel, so I always like to apply a hair oil pre-flight or do a hair mask and then tie my hair in a ponytail or bun and wash when I arrive. I also always bring my own blow dryer — bad hair can happen from a dryer in a hotel room and that can be a trip-ruiner!

Q: What is your top priority when packing beauty for a trip?
I come fully prepared, but for sure moisture is key with being out of a routine and in different climates. I also bring multi-use products like oils that I can use on face, body and hair, and creams that double as a fresh highlighter.

Q: What is the craziest beauty tool you have traveled with?
I’ve traveled with my giant ice roller only to remember I was staying in a hotel with no freezer.

Q: How do you care for your skin and hair from the inside out while traveling?
I try to make sure I’m sticking pretty close to the types of foods I eat at home. I experience places through the food, but I won’t use travel as an excuse to eat tons of junk food for the sake of it — especially out of convenience in places like the hotel room or airport. I also make sure I’m working out a few times to get the body moving and the skin sweating. I make exercise part of the experience of discovering a place. I’ve been to spin classes in Tokyo, yoga in France and have run around Mexico City. Taking care of our insides has an incredible impact on our outer self.
