Editor’s Choice: Wylde One Instant Adaptogenic Lattes

Authored by Iman Balagam

I have a latte problem. It started small — a treat I would gift myself at Sunday brunch. But over time, the sweetened iced oat milk vanilla lattes seeped their way into my everyday routine. I even managed to convince myself that I could not write good pieces unless I had a latte at arm’s length. My monthly credit card bill was primarily trips to my local coffee shop.

But now that I am stuck at home and unable to venture out for coffee, I had to find an alternative. When doing some research, I stumbled upon Wylde One’s Instant Adaptogenic Latte packets. They are a combination of my two favorite things: lattes and promises to improve my life. If you are unfamiliar with adaptogens, they are all natural plants and herbs that claim to help your body function at an optimal and balanced level. We like that.

I ordered all three blends to give my WFH routine a little pizzazz — Golden Glow Up, Matcha Brain Buzz and Chill AF Cacao. The Golden Glow Up mix has been my most prized possession lately as my immune system has been at the forefront of my mind. I soothe my paranoia by drinking this mixture of turmeric, tremella, ashwagandha, astragalus and ginger. The hero ingredient, turmeric, reduces inflammation, hydrates, heals and promotes glowing skin. I turn to the Matcha Brain Buzz when I cannot concentrate on my work.  The matcha blend has the benefits of traditional matcha combined with nootropics — aka brain boosters— that help enhance memory, curb brain fog and increase alertness. The hero ingredient, rhodalia, can give you an extra boost of natural energy. At night when my sweet tooth goes into hyperdrive, I make a warm cup of adult hot chocolate, Chill AF Cacao. This blend uses Criollo cacao, reishi, ashwagandha, cinnamon and nutmeg to calm the mind and body down, balance stress hormones and elevate mood.

Often the wellness products that cross our desk claiming to have a lot of health benefits simultaneously trigger a gag reflex, but the best things about these packets is that they actually taste good. My new quarantine morning routine is to shower, spend ten minutes applying skincare, change from pajamas into loungewear (they are very different things) and head to the kitchen for a hot adaptogenic latte. The first thing I do is froth my almond milk – I impulse ordered a milk frother on the first day of isolation and recommend you do the same. Then I combine the milk with a packet of Wylde One, a tsp of coconut oil and a tsp of honey. Voila, you are now a barista. I personally prefer to use plant milk, but you can mix the packets into hot water, coffee, tea or even smoothies.
