7 Fall Fashion Ideas for Every Day of the Week

Authored by Drew Carlos

If Starbucks is to be believed, fall is here. Whether you like it or not. And, if the fall runways are to be believed, it is going to be a good season for fashion. In fact, one might say (well, I say) that the fashion bubbling up right now is going to make this the best fall yet — not PSL cold brew.

The fact of the matter is that we have all been dreaming about fall since the models took to the runways earlier this year in their matching jewel tones (at Max Mara), power suits (at Victoria Beckham) and monochrome (at Tom Ford). And now that it is finally here, go forth and rock your best camel cape at work.

Here are seven fall fashion work outfits so good that you will find yourself willing the weather to drop below 60 degrees.

We only recommend products we have independently researched, tested, and loved. If you purchase a product found through our links, Sunday Edit may earn an affiliate commission.

Repurpose the Leopard Midi

You did not think we were going to go into a new season and not bring the leopard midi with us, right? The skirt that stole the show this summer is even more fit for fall. Pair the silk bottom with a black turtleneck and black studded Chelsea boots for a hint of edge and playfulness.

Embrace Your Preppy Side

Trench coats had a moment on the runways, seen everywhere from Emilia Wickstead to Tory Burch and Burberry. But even better than a great trench — which there is little better than festive outerwear — is a polished look to go underneath it. Throw on a crisp white button down (we are partial to Grayson, the new sister brand to Frank & Eileen), dark skinny jeans and your favorite mule to pull the look together.

Hold on to Summer

Just because summer is over, that does not mean you have to give up your favorite dresses just yet. Fall is a perfect time to make use of transitional pieces. If your office is more relaxed, throw your favorite dress on over a pair of quality denim. If you need to step it up, add tights to your favorite summer look.

Cozy Casual Fridays

With fall around the corner, oversized sweaters are in your future. But instead of pulling out one of your old favorites, consider making a swap for one with an asymmetrical neckline — this detail was all the rage at Jonathan Simkhai. And if it is a casual Friday, pair the look with your favorite statement sneakers.

Head-to-Toe Jewel

Fall is your chance to combine three fall fashion trends at once: jewel tones, monochrome and a power suit. Find yourself in a ruby red or emerald green suit with a pair of killer heels. Sometimes, it is fun to dress up — this is one of those times.

Winter Whites

Looking for something more on the muted side? If head-to-toe jewel is too bold for you (or your office) consider making the swap to a winter white look. Pair a wide leg denim with a romantic top, chunky belt and your favorite bootie.

Totally Tie-Dye (Still)

If Diplo can pull off a tie-dye suit on the VMAs red carpet, you can pull off transitioning the print to fall (and winter and spring, for that matter). Take a cue from the DJ himself and pair a sweater from The Elder Statesman with your favorite pair of mom jeans (or with a black silk skirt for a more polished look) and combat boots to tone down the tie-dye.
