Superpowers: we all want them. But, seeing as though we are mere mortals, super-strength or teleportation is not a possibility (sigh).
But one thing we do have control over? Our skin and our skincare routine. So, while we may not have superpowers, we do have some superpower ingredients and products that take on the charge for fast and powerful results.
And for the superheroes (who I think we can agree are jealous) — I have you covered. Because even superheroes need skincare routines.
Flight: Moisturizer
As we all know, flying is a recipe for dull, dehydrated skin. So, it goes without saying that a hero who can fly probably has dry or dehydrated skin. While it may be the best power, flying can steal any supers (and humans) glow. The fix? A heavy-duty moisturizer that will hydrate their skin so they can get back to superthings.
Strength: Retinol
Super-strength seems like it would be very useful. At the very least, I know I would feel better about my weights at the gym (but that is another story). If a hero has super strength, I am sure they expect a product that can perform the same. Retinol is their go-to. A powerful ingredient that boosts cell turnover, this is a match made in superhero heaven.
Invisibility: Face Oil
Let’s get one thing straight: just because a hero is invisible does not mean they want to actually be invisible. At least, not all the time. But the transition from invisible to not invisible, well, it leaves them feeling a little dull. For our ladies who want to stand out for the moments when you can see them, may I recommend a turmeric face oil? It has been known to give glow-worthy skin. Or even one packed with superfoods, like blackberry seed oil and blueberry seed oil.
Teleportation: Minis for Travel
The best thing about travel? Getting to explore new destinations. The worst thing? Having to decide which skincare stays and which skincare goes. I have to imagine that teleporters, while they do not have TSA rules, do limit their luggage. Which is why teleporters get a full skincare routine in minis!
Immortality: Lactic Acid
While we have yet to discover the spring of immortality (am I the only one that was obsessed with Tuck Everlasting as a child??), superheroes have it covered. And while immortality sounds great, can you imagine the toll it takes on your skin? Lactic acid to the rescue. The alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which exfoliates the skin, is known to improve radiance and brighten age spots for younger-looking skin. Just because they are immortal, does not mean they can’t have good genes, too.
Endurance: Antioxidants
I know we all wish we had super endurance for when life gets just a little too difficult. While these superheroes clearly cannot relate, they do put their body through a lot. And their skin. Teaming up to take things to the next level, these supers could benefit from adding some antioxidants, like vitamin C, into their routine. Just like they push to beyond their limits, antioxidants work hard for our skin to combat environmental free radicals (think: pollution, UV rays), which means the heroes can go back to combat the villains.
Night Vision: Eye Cream
Ah, night vision. The power might be low on your wish list, but if you think about it is actually quite useful. That being said, I am sure (this is a complete assumption) that having this power puts a strain on your eyes. So, night vision ladies, grab some eye cream to protect those digits! Because you do not need night vision to see dark circles and fine lines.
Speed: Glycolic Acid
“I feel the need, the need for speed!” At least, I imagine every super with super-speed quotes Tom Cruise and “Top Gun” on the reg. And I also imagine, they have limited patience when it comes to results, which is why glycolic acid finds itself on these heroes’ top shelves. The chemical exfoliant (it is an AHA), combats dry skin buildup and leaves skin feeling softer and smoother instantly.
