And, since few places supply more design inspiration at our fingertips than Instagram, we rounded up a dozen Black-owned interior design firms for you to follow asap. From a seasoned tastemaker in New York City to a maximalist-minded trendsetter in Chicago, here are twelve Black interior designers that are making major waves in the home design industry.

Sheila Bridges
If you aren’t already following Sheila Bridges on Instagram, then now’s the time to start. Dubbed “America’s Best Designer” by Time Magazine, the New York City-based tastemaker has been creating beautiful, pattern-filled spaces for nearly three decades. Best known for designing contemporary spaces infused with classical elements and bold prints, including her famous Harlem Toile de Jouy Wallpaper which features witty illustrations of Black stereotypes. Her IG supplies plenty of Bridge’s signature humor, including behind-the-scenes snaps of her current, pandemic-era design projects and the infrared thermometer she keeps on hand.

Forbes + Masters
If you’re a fan of colorful, eclectic interiors, then allow me to introduce you to Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters, the women behind the Atlanta-based interior design firm Forbes + Masters. The pair is currently all the rage in the design world thanks to the modern, pattern-filled spaces they design, marked by bright colors, graphic textiles, and shapely midcentury-style furniture. The duo’s Instagram takes viewers through their design process with them from start to finish and also provides tips and product suggestions for recreating some of their looks in your home.

Apartment 48
Alabama native Rayman Boozer first made waves in the design world when he opened Apartment 48, a small home décor shop in New York City designed to look like a real apartment. Today, the store has grown into an internationally beloved interior design firm, thanks to Boozer’s knack for creating warm, neutral spaces infused with strategic bursts of color, which earned him the nickname “The Color Guru” by Time Out magazine. His Instagram is filled with candid shots of the colorful, art-filled interiors he designs as well as the snaps of the spaces that inspire him.

Breegan Jane
If you love to watch interior design TV shows — and who doesn’t? — then chances are you’re already familiar with Los Angeles-based designer Breegan Jane. After outfitting luxury yachts for a living, the creative director-turned-designer has made a name for herself by creating clean, contemporary spaces for high-end clients and renovating homes on HGTV’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition. And while like many good celeb designers, she won’t reveal exactly who she’s worked with, but her Instagram supplies plenty of pics of Jane with her famous friends, including Jonathan and Drew Scott of Property Brothers.

Brooklyn-based interior designer Danielle Fennoy knows a thing or two about designing thoughtful spaces. The one-woman powerhouse behind Revamp Interior Design, Fennoy is best known for her ability to transform cramped, big-city apartments into bright, elevated spaces sprinkled with a mix of classical antiques and modern Scandinavian furniture pieces. Along with providing her expert advice for HGTV’s Bang for Your Buck, Fennoy uses her Instagram account to take viewers through her creative process, while schooling them on the do’s-and-don’ts of design.

Tiffany Brooks Interiors
Chicago-based interior designer Tiffany Brooks first launched her design firm in 2007 and has been dominating the design game ever since. After being crowned the winner of Design Star in 2013, she has since earned the coveted spot as host of HGTV’s Smart Home. The spaces she designs can be described as traditional meets modern, and often feature clean-lined furnishings and neutral color palettes infused with strikingly modern elements, like graphic print wallpaper, abstract artwork, and sculptural midcentury-style lighting, all of which you’ll find plenty of pics of on IG.
