“Dynasty” Is Serving All the Drama — and Beauty Looks

You’ve already done all the pumpkin patches and apple picking that you could handle for the season. As for the rest of your fall plans? Cozy up on the couch to Netflix, because television has officially bounced back from the pandemic.

At the top of our watch list is Dynasty, a reboot of the popular ‘80s soap opera that follows the feuds between two rich American families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, and the sketchy shenanigans that happen behind the scenes when there’s power and money on the line. The premise is pretty similar to the original, but the reboot does have several notable differences, mainly a diversified cast and a new setting (from Denver to Atlanta). The Carringtons still make their wealth off of the energy industry like they did in the original and the reboot star, Elizabeth Gillies, who plays Fallon, the ambitious daughter of the Carrington family, is vying for the role of COO in the series premiere. However, she finds out her father hands over the title to his new bride — and chaos ensues.

Now on its fourth season (the finale debuted earlier this month), we’ve gotten a little bit of everything we want out of a show: fantasy, romance, catfights, and drama. And if you’re still not sure whether you’ll be into it, watch it for the fashion and beauty looks (after all, the creators developed Gossip Girl, so you know the sartorial choices would be good). We’re particularly lusting after Gillies’ character’s signature red lip, shiny hair, and glowy skin.

The Sunday Riley partner recently took to Instagram to reveal her skincare secret weapon — Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment. “I’m very picky when it comes to my skin, and I’ve had the same routine for as long as I can remember. Sunday Riley’s Good Genes has inspired me to add an essential new step to my daily skincare ritual.” An essential part of her routine, she says “I notice a difference the moment I put it on. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and makes your skin glow. What’s not to love?” The highly potent (yet gentle) lactic acid treatment exfoliates skin to reveal a healthier complexion.
