Spoilers for season one ahead.
The Monterey Five have a lot on their plate. When we last left off with the group — two years ago in our world, one year for them — they were moving on after that fateful night.
Bound together forever, the five women of “Big Little Lies” could not be more different.
But let’s be real here: we all know a Jane or a Madeline or a Renata. Maybe you are one of them. Regardless, we all have some idea of what makes the characters tick. But nothing gives you insight into what a person is like more than the Notes app on their phone — and their Amazon shopping carts.
Amazon carts: They are so big and full of secrets (oops, wrong universe).
And no matter what is going on in your life *cough, cough, murder investigation,* Amazon is always there for you. So, peep what the ladies of Monterey have in their shopping carts and take an intimate look into their big little lives.
Jane: Mom to Ziggy; best friend to Madeline; loves to run; just found out her rapist was married to one of her other best friends, Celeste; likes running to the edges of cliffs and taking her favorite coffee barista to a charity gala.
Celeste: Mom to twins, Max and Josh; once upon a time high-power attorney; best friend to Madeline; extremely rich; married to the late Perry; a victim of abuse; deserves to practice self-care.
Renata: Mom to Amabella; tech executive and self-described working mom; joined board of PayPal for fun; will kill for her child; loves loud sex; misses being spontaneous; a house with a view of the ocean; used to be Madeline’s arch enemy.
Madeline Martha Mackenzie
Madeline: Mom to Chloe (who has better taste in music than you) and Abigail (who tried to auction off her virginity); married to Ed but can’t get over her ex; wants everyone to know she is in charge; has an affair with the director at the local theater she works at (this does not happen in the book); is best friends with Celeste; can be found staring into the ocean with wine; only eats dinner at a massive kitchen island.
Bonnie: Mom to Skye; yoga instructor; married to Madeline’s ex-husband; cool stepmom; very into wellness; just killed a man; is not sure how she feels about it.
