The Best Halloween Nail Looks for 2020

Authored by Macaela Mackenzie

October 15, 2020

Let’s face it, 2020 might not be your best Halloween costume year. In light of safe social distancing guidelines (which you should follow!) trick or treating is cancelled, Halloween parties are going virtual, and that perfect group costume idea will have to wait until next year. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still get in the spirit.

We rounded up some of the best Halloween nail art ideas on Instagram that are easy enough to DYI at home. Happy (at home) haunting.

  1. Glitter Devil Tips

For a devilish take on a French manicure, use sparkly red polish to give your tips a little fear factor.

Another shot, why not. Promise I’ll be back to posting something other than devil nails soon 😈 . . #devilfrench #devilnails #devilnailart #halloweennails #halloweennailart #cutehalloween #showscratch #paintbyjaz #paintgang #gellux #devilred

  1. Swirly Ghosts

Unlike some nail art inspo that requires scarily good precision, these cute ghosts are all about asymmetry. Paint some swirly white blobs, add two black eyes and voila.

  1. Sparkly Spiderwebs

Spiderweb nails for Halloween are about as expected as spiked cider but this version with sparkly silver polish feels especially elevated. Plus if you mess up, it will be less noticeable than black webs.

  1. Classic Halloween Candy

It doesn’t get more classic than candy corn. The best part? You really only need to pull off one nail to make this mani festive.

  1. Tentacle Tips

Something about the simple use of undulating black lines of nail polish feels particularly serpentine—like Ursula the sea witch in a mani.

LFN x @manime.co CARE Collection “Ebb + Flow” nail stickers are now available. 100% of proceeds go to @mvmnt4blklives and @probeautyassoc COVID-19 Relief Fund. A few thoughts as we share this small offering of respite: *Right now and long-term, the unequivocal call to action for each of us individually and collectively is to mobilize around radical imagination and the complete dismantling of imperialist, white-supremacist, capitalist patriarchy (encompassing terminology c/o bell hooks). *This means using all of our tools to realize abolition, wealth redistribution (mutual aid and reparations included), civic engagement, interpersonal and communal accountability practices, and showing up in a way that ensures everyone’s most basic needs are not just met, but exceeded. *But indulgence alone does not get us there—indulgence alone is not radical self-care. For us, this entails evolving our priorities, and the continued critical dialogue around the corporatization and co-option of self-care and wellness spaces, movements, language, and presentation—nail art included. *Self-care is only radical if it’s done in conjunction with actions and considerations necessary to realize a world where all people are psychologically and physically safe and thriving. The ManiMe CARE Collection includes designs from LFN and 10 amazing nail artists. Link in bio for more.
