Missed our Cannes Film Festival pre-red carpet recap on our social channels? No worries, we’re still dreaming about the glowy skin we saw during the big event, and we’re more than happy to relive all the complexion perfection with you. Below, Brazilian top model and Sunday Riley partner Isabeli Fontana walks us through her getting-ready skincare routine so you can steal all her secrets.
The Edit: What’s your typical skincare routine at home? How did you discover your favorite products?
Isabeli Fontana: On a day when I’m not working, I love to start by washing my face with Ceramic Slip Cleanser. I then spray a little bit of Pink Drink Firming Resurfacing Essence to firm my face and get that hydration. Afterward, I apply 2-3 drops of C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face Oil which I mix in my hands with the C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum. I then finish with the Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment and Auto Correct Eye Contour Cream. These products give me such a glow. I’m currently in Lisbon, and all my luggage with all my products has been lost since I left Cannes after the Cannes Film Festival a few days ago. I can notice the negative impact that’s had on my skin [without my regular routine].
Sunday Riley came into my life through my make-up artist and friend, Erica Monteiro, who introduced the brand to me a few years ago. I became obsessed from the first moment I tried Good Genes, C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum, and C.E.O. Glow Oil; I loved the instant results that I was experiencing. I was traveling at that point and got to try a kit out so that I could bring it everywhere with me. Ever since then, I’ve been using the products. They’re perfect for someone like me who travels a lot.
Do you have any special tricks for product application or feeling your best?
IF: I notice that people drink wine more in Europe than in the US and Brazil, where I’m from. Currently, being in Europe, I try to keep it down and avoid drinking too much or too often, as this can make my face extra puffy. To prevent puffiness, I make sure to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. I also like to give myself a little massage around the eye area with Auto Correct, doing upwards movements.
Aside from getting a Sunday Riley facial the day of a big event like the Cannes Film festival, how else do you prep your skin the days leading up to an event? Have you learned anything new about your skin and its reaction under stress?
IF: I’ve been struggling with dark spots throughout the years, but the C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum does wonders for me on this! It keeps my face tone even and helps prevent spots. I always like to keep my skincare routine simple during a lot of stress or not. I love to be natural, and I don’t like to apply too many things to my face.
Tell us about your experience using Sunday Riley products. How does it make your skin feel immediately and also long-term? How do you feel like it’s different from other moisturizers/serums you’ve used in the past?
IF: The C.E.O. Glow Oil and Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil have been game-changers. I used to struggle with blemishes as a teenager, and I’ve found that many products that I was using were clogging my pores. Compared to many other oil-based products I’ve tried, Sunday Riley oils are dry, which I love as I have combination skin. They feel non-oily and hydrating, like food for my skin; I can tell that my skin loves it. I also love the instant plumpness I get from using C.E.O. Vitamin C Brightening Serum.
Speaking of acne, do you ever experience acne during the days leading up to a big event? What are your favorite quick fixes?
IF: I don’t experience acne or many blemishes anymore now that I use the great products!
What are some makeup or skincare products you’ll have on hand for quick fixes during the night?
IF: Normally I bring something to hydrate my lips, either lipstick or lip balm. For example, I can’t bring that much with me on a red carpet, as I often can’t bring a purse, but that’s not really a problem. The truth is I don’t need any quick fixes with a good base before getting makeup done. With a good base, the makeup stays well throughout the night.
How long have you been a fan of Good Genes? What’s your skin type, and how does our exfoliating treatment cater to it?
IF: I’ve been a fan for about two years. I love it for bringing out a youthful, flawless, and natural look. It’s perfect for prepping my skin before makeup. When she was doing my skincare and makeup, I remember asking Erica, “what is this great foundation that you’ve used?” She said it was just skincare prep!
Aside from products, what are some lifestyle or diet factors that you notice make a huge difference in your skin?
IF: I keep a nutritious diet; I’ve noticed that it helps keep my skin clear. I eat a lot of fruits, red fruits, and berries for antioxidants. I also don’t eat dairy products. If you don’t take care of your health from the inside, you can’t expect the quality of your skin on the outside to look good. Beauty comes from the inside too.
What’s your favorite way to take off layers of makeup and product at the end of a big event like the Cannes Film Festival?
IF: I’m obsessed with Ceramic Slip Cleanser; it’s my favorite cleanser. It easily removes all my makeup without feeling like it dries out my skin.
What was the highlight of attending the Cannes film festival?
IF: The glam! I love the process of getting ready for the red carpet. I enjoy socializing and meeting people and friends — and having fun! It’s an enjoyable and festive time. There’s a lot going on, and it can easily be a bit stressful, but I try to make the best out of it and want everything to be enjoyable. Collecting moments is most important; those moments are what we bring with us through life.
