Your Zodiac Sign’s Year-End Scope

Authored by Bess Matassa

November 20, 2020

Confettied, unfettered, and oh so wholly alive, December’s year-end cosmic energies are an invite to celebrate the natural momentum of what’s already unfolding. And the central question goes down strong and spicy, should we choose to accept it: where can I get out of my own damn way and make way for inevitable growth?

Like every plant and animal that’s there beside you, you are in constant motion — each baby breath becoming an emblem of perpetual color change. No matter where you find yourself this December, the cosmic crossing into 2021 is here to remind you that you are already, always evolving, simply by the grace of your status as a participant on planet Earth.

The view up ahead? With Jupiter joining Saturn under spacious Aquarius skies, and the Tarot’s Hierophant card paving the way, 2021 asks us to step into our rightful roles as “seers” of our own lives. First, we’ve got to liberate our sightlines, considering where we’ve crowded our house full of foregone conclusions, and committing to consciously carving space instead. Power facing our prepackaged perceptions clear the doorways for all prophetically possible ways forward.

2021 wants us to let our lives become utterly in-finite, as we forgo the parched lines of automatic patterns for the lubed-up liberation of a self-sought destiny. So give up the assumptions, and get good with the gaps where goddess can get inside. Because the endgame of your story is far from over, and it’s written in stardust rather than stone.

Read on for your sign’s year-end outlook, as you bless all that’s gone down and get jazzed for the juicy fruits yet to come …

SAGITTARIUS OR SAGITTARIUS RISING

What’s Gone Down: Set to a regal R&B jam, this year’s end asks you to consider your relationship to time. While it may sound esoteric at first, pausing to explore your notions of time-based productivity, output and achievement will help return you to your rightful role as the sole authority of how you spend your days here on earth.

What’s to Come: A no-nonsense year for cutting the excess, 2021 urges you to lose the dead weight and lift-off lighter. This is an act of self-love rather than a call to self-punish. Toss the distractions and detours by the wayside, and commit to a celebratory charge down the clearest road that unfurls before you.

CAPRICORN OR CAPRICORN RISING

What’s Gone Down: While it may seem to fly in the face of your usual peaks and pinnacles, this year’s end wants you to consider what you can leave “undone.” Soften your urge to wrap it up and let it all rotate instead, finding exhilaration in the ellipses. Whatever is not yet “locked down” is exactly where you’re being asked to find delight.

What’s to Come: 2021 is an invitation to get underneath and fully within. To notice the moments where you “fly away” from a feeling and to instead stick “with,” letting it lead you to the centerpiece of its causality. Commit to going beyond the obvious and finding the secret story hidden in the footnotes.

AQUARIUS OR AQUARIUS RISING

What’s Gone Down: A chance to commune with your inexplicable rhythms without having to explain, 2020 was a walkabout through your wild woods. Rather than having to take stock of what went down, or “come to,” can you commit to continuing this allegiance to yourself? Elope with your eccentricities and disappear even deeper into whatever primal urges are pulling you.

What’s to Come: A mansion of megawatt proportions, 2021 is your invite to up-level your status as a space holder. There is nothing that doesn’t get to inhabit your feelings palace this year. No compartmentalizations or forced excisions. Bring it all, sweet babe, and give each and every shade of you its own California king bed.

PISCES OR PISCES RISING

What’s Gone Down: A reaffirmation of your right to decide which feelings to filter and which to use as fuel, this year’s end asks you to choose how to remember it. Far from an exercise in denial, this process is about focused artistry and authorial intent. Hand-select the memories you want to use as elixirs, crafting a limber life of your very own magical making.

What’s to Come: With a song in your heart and diamonds on the soles of your shoes, 2021 wants you popping off with new notions, and emblazoned with the experiential innocence to act on them. Favor the most effervescent ideas; if it doesn’t bubble it’s not worth toasting.

ARIES OR ARIES RISING

What’s Gone Down: Who are you in stillness, dear fire starter? In the blank space before you begin? December wants you to look back at all of the moments this year where you didn’t rush to “fill” anything, content to receive whispers of intel instead of racing to the hard and fast finish line. As you lay 2020 to rest, sanctify it in soft shades of grey.

What’s to Come: Cue the getaway playlist and pack your suitcases for the land of hope, honey. 2021 wants to see you get dazzled by the brazenness of your own dreams, daring to imagine the best-case scenarios for your life instead of weatherizing for the worst. Dress lightly and leave the umbrella behind.

TAURUS OR TAURUS RISING

What’s Gone Down: How available are you to take in the obvious without complicating it, Taurus? December wants you to drop any over-analysis and just consider whatever kept coming back this year to show itself to you. There’s been a drumbeat and a primary color and a theme. Take it in without turning away.

What’s to Come: You are wilier than you know and 2021 wants to show this to you. Every time you think you’ve reached a dead end or hit a preconceived “capacity,” this year invites you to wrangle and wiggle and widen, absorbing more and letting it change you. While you may be the zodiac’s rock, you’re more than ready to grow some new crystals.

GEMINI OR GEMINI RISING

What’s Gone Down: Baby butterfly, are you willing to behold your beauty? This year’s end wants you to revisit your history of tenderness. Each microscopic heart cell of a moment when you chose to dilate. When you bent without breaking to make way for life. Raise a glass to the happy and sad tears that buffed you into a gossamer gemstone.

What’s to Come: As the zodiac’s queen of thresholds, you’re here to teach the rest of us about living in the liminal spaces. 2021 is an invitation to honor each and every crossing you make. Whether it’s a subtle up-leveling or a wild leap, marking personal growth with pageantry is your ticket to adventure.

CANCER OR CANCER RISING

What’s Gone Down: You are filled with raw oceanic force, and it’s high time to remember that the tides within can be as forgiving as they are ferocious. Whatever has been lost in 2020 is a find. That’s not to say there can’t be grief or grasping present. But there is a stronger pull right now. Another shore. And you’re headed there fueled by your willingness to believe in love after love after love.

What’s to Come: 2021 is a midnight invite to get loonier. To follow the lead of inexplicable hits of inspo and desirous pulls out past the usual stops. Let this coming year emerge entirely out of your own inner design, and know that you don’t have to explain the blueprint to a single soul.

LEO OR LEO RISING

What’s Gone Down: What was the heart that beat beneath 2020? Maybe it was a long-lost source of exhilaration brought back to life. Or a forever furry fear that reminded you of what was most precious. As you lay this year on the fire, remember where you re-found flashes of purpose and crystal clear “whys,” and clutch these flameproof love nuggets to your chest.

What’s to Come: 2021 needs you, Leo—pure and simple. And you don’t have to sacrifice a bit of your saturated selfness to be of service. The more you-ness of you that you bring, the more the world warms in your wake. Not a year for half measures or half hearts, shed the mealy “maybes” and show up ready to share your ripest apples.

VIRGO OR VIRGO RISING

What’s Gone Down: Take December to consider your powerful porousness. What you’ve brought into your lustrous love bubble this year and what you’ve decided to keep out. You are the zodiac’s psychic sieve—here to divine and define exactly what gets a place at your altar—and 2020 asked you to refine this art of selection. Celebrate each courageous choice.

What’s to Come: 2021 is a storm surge that wants to wash you clean. Wants you to come all the way back home to source, scoop out and left only with the most elegant essentials. Let this prospect feel electrifying rather than terrifying—a chance to stand in the beauty of your bareness.

LIBRA OR LIBRA RISING

What’s Gone Down: What parts of you are you bolting to the ground to keep them from being stolen? Where do you feel like you’re replaceable and expendable? This year’s end wants to bring you back to the emboldened notion that no one and nothing can do it just like you can, Libra. Bring your special sauce and your signature scent and dip the world in it.

What’s to Come: An exploration of the far-ranging effects of your causes, 2021 asks you to consider the impact of your bold moves on your beautiful bod. Simply put, the whole of you has to “come with” this year. Full body yeses, full-body nos, and nothing in-between.

SCORPIO OR SCORPIO RISING

What’s Gone Down: An exploration of the continuum between power and perceived powerlessness, your sign is here to uncover the unshakable, unstealable steely bits of the soul. Take this year’s end to look long and hard at what’s still here. Not the empty spaces or the loves lost, but the remains. This presence is your essence. Honor its ongoing aliveness.

What’s to Come: 2021 ups the ante on your emotional instincts. But not those borne from fear of betrayal or deceit or any other buried-in-the-basement antics. Instead, this year asks you to follow your instincts towards the opening. Towards loving again, anyway. Laugh in the face of loss and let levity lead the way.
