For centuries, women have left a mark through paintings, fiber crafts, and photographs, leaving the generations that follow inspired to continue finding self-expression through art. This Women’s History Month, we’re drawing inspiration from some of our favorite female artists on social media, including ceramicists, crocheters, metalsmiths, illustrators, and more, who draw on the power of feminine energy to craft their unique works of art, elevate other artists through creative initiatives, and, overall, make some truly captivating pieces.
Here are eight artists who inspire us to get creative, whether it’s sitting down and learning how to crochet or picking up a paint brush and transforming a canvas into a work of art.
1. Krista Coons, @hername_ismud

Krista Coons — aka, Her Name Is Mud — is a ceramic artist based in Arizona. In her work, Coons draws inspiration from the curves of a female figure as well as female artists like Georgia O’Keeffe through sculptural items and wearable pieces. We love Coons’ work because each piece feels like a deep connection to feminine energy and earthly elements (after all, she uses earth, water, air, and fire to create her ceramic pieces) that feel deeply meaningful.
2. Ann Muntyan, @ moontyasha
Crochet artist Ann Muntyan is a Ukraine-based maker who hand stitches collectible plush monsters. The cuddly crochet creatures are each one-of-a-kind with adorable details like a matching removable sweater or a holiday scarf. We love Muntyan’s work because she breathes life into each monster with their own identity that connects you deeper to the artist — plus, they’re super cute.
3. Joy Smith, @communionbyjoy
Joy Smith of Communion By Joy is a Hawaii-based fine jewelry artist who specializes in pieces that are first created in wax then cast into a mold before transforming into 14K gold pendants, rings, and more. We love her fine jewelry collection because it’s the perfect mix of ready-to-ship and custom one-of-a-kind pieces with a mix of different healing gemstones, including emerald, tanzanite, and tourmaline, along with diamonds. In addition to Smith’s jewelry creations, she also paints stunning pieces of fine art that are rooted in the feminine divine.
4. Bekah Worley, @bekahworleyco
Bekah Worley is a Minnesota-based illustration artist who paints some of the most whimsical and unique pieces. Through her work, she combines complex truths and lighthearted expressions with fun and colorful paintings. We love Worley’s paintings because of the color, illustrative style, and the way she creates them by painting not only on canvas but also on vintage-looking frames for an elevated feel.
5. Kendall Jade Ross, @id.knit.that
Fiber artist Kendall Jade Ross is an Oklahoma-based knitter who is best known for her vibrant sweaters and vests that double as works of art. Her works boast a unique spin on knitwear, with illustrative graphics, phrases, and hilarious anecdotes such as “I made this for you! I hope it fits. It took forever. Do you like it though? You really don’t have to wear it. Is it too much?” Her work is bold, fun, and statement-making, reminding us to lean into our own bold, fun, and statement-making energies.
6. Zara Glaser, @zara.glaser
Zara Glaser is a Toronto-based artist who specializes in gouache paintings. She is known for her custom pet portraits, which she captures in her own signature style that feels whimsical and light-hearted. Glaser also has a background in photography, which she uses to inform her portrait work, as she carefully considers her subject, location, and lighting in a fun and expressive way.
7. Ashlee Elle, @thedreamcrochet
Ashlee Elle is another crochet artist we love. With a fashion-forward focus, Elle creates trendy and unique fiber pieces that are stylish and unique with tons of personality woven into every stitch. In addition to her crochet creations, Elle also creates crochet patterns and has a YouTube channel where she teaches fellow makers how to create some of her designs, including how to make a crochet bucket hat.
8. Charly Clements, @charlyclements
Charly Clements is another illustrator who not only makes some of our favorite works of art but also uses her skills as an artist to give back to the creative community with classes on topics such as digital portraits and mastering symmetry. She also creates free resources for aspiring artists, helping to elevate and support their work through her guidance and professional insight.
