London-based stylist Holly White’s client list reads like a who’s who of It Brits: Michelle Dockery, Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran, House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock, Emma Watson, Naomie Harris, Tom Hiddleston, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, and so on. Though White’s personal style tends to veer toward the low-key — blazers or sweaters, jeans and a tee, minimal jewelry — the looks she creates for her clients are decidedly more involved. They ooze sex appeal and sophistication at the same time; they work with contrasts, both in texture and colors; and each look suits her client’s silhouette to a T. So when she’s not perfecting looks that millions of eyes will see, what does this Londoner get up to? Here’s her perfect Sunday.
In our new series, “A Perfect Sunday,” we spotlight our favorite tastemakers and their ideal Sunday vibe, life advice, and beauty and style must-haves. Here, Holly White shares her routine.
Wake-Up Routine:
“I wake up around 8 or 9 a.m. and normally head to a workout class. I am loving the 1Rebel classes, mainly for the awesome playlists. Then I walk back via my favorite coffee shop, pick up the Sunday Times and wander through my local farmer’s market. I pick up sourdough to go with my scrambled eggs for breakfast. On Sundays, I’m all about comfort, grabbing a jumper and sweatpants with trainers, and a mac [raincoat] right now.”
Mid-Morning:
“Work often keeps me out of the house for long hours during the week so I do my best to catch up on chores.”
Lunch:
“I love a Sunday roast. After my mum’s, Blacklock in Shoreditch is delicious and the unlimited white chocolate cheesecake for dessert is to die for. Or if it’s a special occasion, I love going to the River Café. I adore everything about that place from the food to the aesthetic to the atmosphere. It is where I had my wedding lunch, which consisted of antipasti starters and pasta, when I got married this summer.”
Afternoon:
“Afternoons are generally spent relaxing at home. Because I don’t get much time at home during the week, it’s nice to enjoy the comfort of my sofa on a Sunday! I read the Sunday Times and all the supplements, and then settle in for a nice afternoon movie or TV series. I’m currently watching The Bear on Disney+.”
Evening:
“I’m an early bird so I tend to have a bath, pop on a face mask or hair mask (or both) and am winding down by early evening. For face masks, I love 111Skin Cryo De-Puffing Facial Mask for de-puffing, especially if you keep it in the fridge. And their Rose Gold Brightening Mask for the afterglow. My dear friend and hairstylist, Patrick Wilson, recommended the Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer Mask. I love it because it’s great for naturally thin hair like mine.”
Bedtime Ritual:
“I’m obsessed with Sarah Chapman. Her facials are incredible and her night range really does make you feel like you’ve been for a treatment. I have trouble sleeping unless it is pitch black so finding the Slip Silk Sleepmask has been a total game changer. And nothing beats fresh pajamas and sheets.”
Holly’s Highlights
What’s been a recent career high for you?
“Milly Alcock’s L.A. House of the Dragon premiere moment in archive Alexander McQueen was one of my recent favorites. I had tried for three weeks to get that dress and when it finally landed in my studio, we put it on and knew it was the one and the opener for Milly’s global press tour and also Milly’s first-ever premiere. A moment we will both never forget.”
What are some of your fashion and beauty must-haves?
“Good basics are the staple in any great wardrobe — a good jean, blazer, and t-shirt. For beauty, it’s a good eye cream (Sarah Chapman Eye Recovery), serum (111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster), and I love Rodial eye patches.”
What are you reading, watching, listening to right now?
“I just finished Bad Sisters on Apple TV and loved it. I’ve just picked up Mailbu Rising and am listening to Jessie Ware’s Table Manners. I love podcasts.”
What are some of your favorite things about London?
“So many! The food, the architecture, the fashion. London street style in particular is the best. I love seeing what people have created not just on the catwalk, but every day too.”
Describe your style.
“Monochromatic, minimalist, relaxed yet polished.”
What are some of the most exciting things happening in fashion right now?
“I’m excited to see what Daniel Lee does at Burberry and what Riccardo [Tisci] does next.”
Do you have a most treasured possession?
“My Chanel Classic. I have a soft spot for bags and it was my first purchase. I had saved up to buy it when I went to Paris for my 21st birthday. Every time I use it takes me back to that moment and brings me so much joy.”
